Regular
Members
- Are owners or managers
of residential rental property
- Must agree to abide
by the Association's Code of Ethics
- Must claim all
residential rental properties owned and/or managed in B.C. at the time
of application and list that information annually with the Association
- Must submit annual
membership dues based on the number of rental units owned and or managed
- Are subject to
Board approval
- Have full voting
rights
Code
of Ethics - Regular Members
Members shall:
- Abide by the Constitution,
By-Laws and Policies of the Association.
- Aim to provide
accommodation in which due regard has been given to the comfort, convenience
and privacy of tenants and to the amenity of common areas.
- Be guided by the
concept of mutual respect between landlord and tenant and act in a manner
that merits respect in dealing with any complaints, concerns or problems
brought to their attention.
- Consider the effect
of their actions on the public attitude to the rental industry as a
whole and endeavour to maintain cordial relations with their tenants.
- Cooperate with
the Association in providing an exchange of information for the benefit
of good landlord/tenant relations.
- Endeavour to be
aware of municipal, provincial and federal legislation pertaining to
building with residential tenancies and endeavour to comply therewith,
with due allowance for exceptions such as building originally built
to code which no longer conform.
- Be guided by the
Residential Tenancy Act.
Regular
Membership Dues
- Membership dues are payable annually and cover the calendar year from
January 1 - December 31.
- Dues are based on the number of rental units you represent and are as
follows;
$116 for those who own 1-5 suites,
$133 for 6-10 suites,
$148 for 11-20 suites,
$7.05 per unit per year for 21-100 suites,
$7.00 per unit per year for 101-150 suites,
$1060 per year for 151-500 suites,
$1112 per year for 501-999 suites, and
$1133 per year for 1000 suites, plus $0.25 per suite over 1000
to a max of $1500
- Membership Dues are subject to a $25 application fee.

Associate
Members
- Are suppliers of
goods and services
- Must agree to abide
by the Association's Associate Member Code of Ethics
- Must be nominated
by two (2) current regular members
- Must have a business
license
- Must submit annual
membership dues
- Do not have voting
rights
Associate
Membership Dues
- Are payable annually
and cover the calendar year from January 1 - December 31
- $428 for 2009 plus $25 application fee; please see associate membership application for more information.
Code
of Ethics - Associate Members
Members shall:
- Abide by the Constitution,
By-Laws and Policies of the Association.
- Cooperate, where
appropriate with the Association in providing an exchange of information
for the benefit of member relations.
- Comply with all
licensing and bonding requirements and endeavour to comply with all
the regulations of applicable municipal, local, Provincial or Federal
agencies and authorities, and provide the Association with periodic
confirmation on request.
- Strive to serve
customers with honest values and avoid any action that contradicts this
principle.
- Ensure all contracts
to members are offered in good faith and are free from clauses that
dictate automatic renewal right of first refusal and unsubstantiated
annual price increases.
- Honour all commitments
and guarantees, and seek to resolve any disputes in a fair and expeditious
manner.
- Support the principles
and objectives of the Association and not engage in any activity that
would reflect adversely on the Association or its members.
